Born in Manhattan, N.Y. and raised in Western North Carolina, Al was the son of the late James and Ellen Farley Bullman. He was a long-time volunteer and founding board member of Scottish Tartans Museum in Franklin, NC. Al retired from Crane-Resistoflex in Marion, NC in 2001 and in retirement, he enjoyed working with the US Forest Service in the Wayah District. He proudly served our country in Vietnam as a U.S. Marine.
Al is survived by his son, Shannon “Shaun” R. Bullman (Maya) of Air Force Academy, CO; daughters, Kelly L. Bullman McDevitt (Mike) of Candler and Stacy P. Bullman King (Jackie) of Leicester; brother, John Wesley Bullman of Asheville; grandchildren, Ian Bullman, US Army, Republic of South Korea; Dillion Rickman, US Air Force, Fort Walton Beach, FL; Brandie and Stephen McDevitt; Samantha and Maysha Bullman; Corie and Samuel King; and step-grandson, Tenryu Chinen.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM, September 13, 2014, at Buckeye Cove Community Center, 527 Buckeye Cove Road, Swannanoa, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. James McCoy will be officiating.
