Born in Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Smith and Geraldine Forga Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Anthony. Gloria was a teacher for Macon Program for Progress and had a special love for kids. She was a member of Maidens Chapel United Methodist Church; enjoyed camping, going to the lake and participating in water sports. Most of all she enjoyed being with her friends and family.
She is survived by her husband, Marty Southard; two children, Tyler Pullen and Morgan Southard, both of Franklin; sister, Rita Laws (Ed) of Crabtree, NC; two brothers, Eddie Smith (Marie Mellott) of Waynesville, NC and Kenny Smith (Shelli) of Waynesville, NC; three aunts; two uncles and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Fouts, Rev. Sharon Geiger, Rev. Lee Russell and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the Fulbright Cemetery, Haywood County.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, at Macon Funeral Home.
