Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Paul Michael Steiert and Mae Ambrosia Steiert Flamm. Michael was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Cold War; member of Franklin Church of Christ, member of the Macon Aero Modelers and was a member of Freedom Works.
He is survived by two children, Gary Steiert and Michael Steiert, both of Franklin; sister, Jeannie Armstrong of East Peoria, IL; brother, Neil Steiert of IL; three grandchildren; one great-grandson and two step grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, at Macon Funeral Home. Radford Penland and Ottis Qualls will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., Wednesday, prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tim Burch, Byron Shields, Brian Penland, Brian Penland, Jr., Andy Hays and Ian Dougherty. Honorary Pallbearer will be Caleb Shields.
