William K. (Bill) Gallman

William K. (Bill) Gallman, 87, of Morristown, TN went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2014.

Born in Lake Wales, FL on December 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Marion H. Gallman and Josie Young Gallman. In addition to the parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy H. Gallman, George Gallman, Allen Gallman, and granddaughter, Lorena Villatoro.

Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December 1944 and trained as an aircraft mechanic and was a flight engineer on PBY, long range patrol aircraft. He later served as an aircraft maintenance planning and scheduling specialist. On Oct. 6, 1952, he entered the U.S. Air Force and graduated from Officer Candidate School in December 1953 as a distinguished graduate. Bill continued to serve in various Air Force assignments until retirement with 20 years of service. His civilian career included 31 years as an automobile dealer in FL. He then retired to Franklin, NC where he farmed and raised cattle. He continued to utilize his military experience by joining the Civil Air Patrol and served as squadron composite commander for 10 years. He also taught mountain flying to Civil Air Patrol pilots in NC and WV. He was a member of Hickory Knoll United Methodist Church where he was a lay leader, taught Sunday school and served on a number of committees over the years. Upon moving to Morristown, TN he transferred his membership to Trinity United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Janet Legg Gallman; a son, William K. Gallman, Jr. of Naples, FL; daughters, Tonette M. Corn and husband Jason Corn, Newport, TN, Lorena (Joy) McMichael and husband Bob, Lakeland, FL, Kay Bailey Garvey and husband Mike, Ft. Myers, FL, Linda Villatoro and husband Tony of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Daniel Gallman, Christopher and Nicole Corn, Ryan McMichael, John Carl Bailey, Paige Stewart, Stacy Woody, Theressa Villatoro; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to ALPS (Adult Day Services, 600 North Daisy St., Morristown, TN 37814).

The family received friends Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the East Chapel of Allen Funeral Home prior to a memorial service at 3:00 with Reverends Mike Cutshaw and Paul Sears of Franklin, NC. officiating. Interment with full military honors followed in Bethesda Cemetery.

Allen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
