Born on April 2, 1933 in Nantahala, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Lyle and Anna Baldwin. She moved from North Carolina to Annapolis, Maryland with her sister Chloe Baldwin Edwards in 1950. There she worked and met her husband of 52 years, Melvin Hantman who was stationed with the U.S. Navy. Together they had four children, John Hantman and his wife Sharon of Milford, DE; Lori Hantman and her husband Paolo Palumbo of Chester, MD; Charles Hantman and his wife Amy of Queenstown, MD; Chris Hantman and his wife Lisa of Bear, DE.
Jane loved to be with her children and play bingo. She made the best corn bread that everybody raved about and would come from all over just to get a piece of “Miss. Jane’s cornbread.” She was a great cook and a wonderful mother to her six children and to all who needed a mom. She will be so dearly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and all who knew her. Especially her cat Raisin.
Services will be private.
Contributions may be made in her name to the Queen Anne’s County Humane & Animal Shelter, 201 Clay Drive, Queenstown, MD 21658.
