Alfred Duane Plummer, 87, of Franklin, NC, passed away peacefully at home, on Saturday, April 26, 2014. 

Born in New Hartford, Iowa, he was the son of the late Vernon Wallace Plummer and Laura Annabelle Greer Plummer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hinton Plummer; a brother, Dale Plummer and a grandson, David Masse. Al was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp and U.S. Navy; he attended Iowa State College and Iowa State Teachers College. He became a member of Beaver Masonic Lodge No. 476 in 1952 and was locally a member of the Junaluskee Masonic Lodge145 and a member of the Smoky Mountain Oasis Shriners. Al was also a member of the Lions Club and an active volunteer with Macon Senior Services for many years. 

He is survived by three children, Lori (Bob) Harryman of Arvada, Colorado, Cynthia Plummer of Lynchburg, VA and Suzi (John) Turman of Clermont, FL; sister, Donna Medwid (Al) of Santa Barbara, CA; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Vic Greene will officiate.
