You have a very special place in our hearts.  We have shared together the blessings of God

- Philippians 1:8

PENSACOLA, FL – Margaret (Margie) Cynthia Shofner, a beautiful kind soul, went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 after dealing with Parkinson’s disease for several years.  Though the last years have been a struggle for her, she has left a fingerprint on everyone that she met.  Her kindness and generosity was what she will be most remembered for.

Margie grew up in Pensacola and was a 1956 graduate of Pensacola High School.  She worked much of her life and was Vice President and co-owner of R.N. Pyle Mechanical Contractors along with her husband Jerry.  When she was younger, she enjoyed softball and was a fast-pitch pitcher.  During retirement she lived in the Blue Ridge mountains and loved their mountain home, Lightnin’s Lookout.  She loved to garden, host parties, dance, laugh and play games with family and friends.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Loved ones gone before her were her parents J.D and Kate Channell as well as her daughter Cynthia Robin Byrd.  She is survived by her husband, Jerry F. Shofner and daughters Cherie S. Lee (Scott) and Shelley N. Messer (Marty) as well as seven grands - Chase Byrd, Taylor Lee, Tanner Lee, Parker Byrd, Cooper Messer, Harley Messer and Emma Messer.

Due to the circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a graveside service will be held on April 15, 2020 for immediate family only with plans for a Celebration of Life service to be held at a later date.
