FRANKLIN – Larry David Bishop, 71, went home to be be with Jesus on Sunday, April 4, 2021 after a period of declining health.

Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Quenton and Ruby Wilson Bishop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by in wife Frances McIntyre Bishop; and a sister, Clydias Guffey. Larry was a member of Watauga Baptist Church and the Macon County Coon Hunters club. He was a brick and block mason and in his spare time he loved tending to his livestock.

Larry is survived by his sister, Nancy Young (Jason) of Oak Island, North Carolina; one nephew, Sam; and five nieces, Julia, Meg,  Marcie, Gina and Selena. Sister in- laws; Wanda Baker (Norman) and Katie Shope (Bobby) of Franklin; and numerous cousins and friends also survive.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on April 7, 2021 at Watuaga Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Mark Bishop, Rev. Wesley Price and Rev. Roy Lowe officiated.  

Mr. Bishop laid in state from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Dick Franklin, Brad Bishop, Damen Johnson, Kirk Johnson, Tim Cochran, and Bobby Cabe. Honorary Pallbearers are Alvin Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Roger Bishop, Mitchell Bishop, L.C. Browning, Buddy Cochran, and Ed Cope.
